The good news is I'm back in the ATL, hangin' with Messrs Cooper. The bad news is that Chance has a preliminary diagnosis of celiac disease. The good news is that if that's what it is, the cloud of methane gas surrounding him (which at least muffles the foghorn sound of his farts) will go away. The bad news is that he has to go on a gluten-free diet for the rest of his life.
His LIFE.
That's a big load for a six-year-old.
A little more about celiac disease, especially as it pertains to Chance and his symptoms:
- LOTS of stinky gas
- Skinny
- Not much appetite (Chance has shown very little interest in food lately)
- Skin rashes around mouth (he's been diagnosed with molluscum (sp?)
- Gray/white stools (due to high fat content)
- Stiffness
- Bone aches
- Can be associated with lactose intolerance
There's now a new Celiac category (to go along with Paxton's GCS category). More to follow.
