Is it a Freudian slip that I originally put "business" instead of "busyness"? Is "busyness" even a word? How do you spell "anal retentive"?

Many many crazy things going on Casa de la Cooper in preparation for the holiday cheer, to which I give a rousing bah humbug. I do have to confess that my usual scrooginess is a little diminished this year. Two boys will do that to you, I guess, but I've also been a little preoccupied with Chance's issues. More on that later, but first, the recap.

Friday night was the Litrel's party, at which lots of fun was had and lots of alcohol consumed. I got pretty blasted, but Ginger said she only had a mild buzz going on. Suited both of us just fine, although I can't figure it out about Ginger, since I was the one making her drinks

One of my more important discoveries from the party (being the lame-o loser I am) is that indoor/party mode pretty much sucks on my new camera. Apparently the exposure times for this mode are around 1 to 4 seconds, which is a little too long to ask drunk people to stand still. At the very least, the picture blurs from the swaying (OK, maybe the photographer was as much to blame as the photographees, but still...).

Saturday, it was off to visit the Hunts of Huntsville. Nice to see the old neighborhood again, and to see them in their new digs. I have lots of house envy now, but I don't think it could have happened to nicer people. We went to the boat parade at Ditto Landing, with 38 degree air temperature, and 10 mph winds. In a word: brrrr. Also found out that fireworks mode on the camera pretty much sucks too, but it may be that they designed it assuming you'd be doing these on hot still summer nights, rather than Force 3 winter nights.

I would post pictures, but I've also been fighting my Gallery installation all week. I don't know if the problem's on my end or my hosting provider's end, and it's taking up too much freaking time. I'm going to try to reinstall it to see if the autodetection fixes anything, but it sure looks like ImageMagick doesn't have all the right libraries installed. Maybe I can install NetPBM by myself.

So here's the upcoming week:

• Monday morning, Chance meets with the craniofacial doctor again, and meets the occupational therapist.
• Monday day, work has Moveable Feast day (aka, Your First Chance to Stuff Yourself Silly and Use the Holidays as an Excuse day).
• Monday evening, Paxton has his Christmas pageant show. Cuteness abounds at these things. The question is, what sucky camera mode should I use? They don't have a "you won't ever have another chance to take a picture like this again" mode. I think we're bringing the film camera too.
• Wednesday night, it's LOTR:ROTK premerie night (w00t!)
• Thursday night, Ginger has book club. Can you say McDonald's playground?
• Saturday, we have Grant Gerwit's birthday in the boonies of Cumming (oddly enough, they say the same thing about coming out here).
• Saturday night, we have the Light's party.

To top all that off, there's a possibility that the in-laws will be staying here for several days this week while their kitchen gets painted. If that doesn't get me grinchified, I don't know what will.

As the magician says in Frosty the Snowman, "Busy, busy, busy!"
