Boys Day Out

December 31st, 2003 by John

Since Chance has been working really hard on his carpal tunnel (thanks to the new GameCube), I took him to visit World of Coca Cola, known to you and me as the Coke Museum. We rode MARTA down from the Dunwoody station.

This was Chance's first time on MARTA, commemorated by a distinct smell of vomit in our seats.

There was quite a line when we got there, no doubt helped by the nice weather and the holiday.

A group just in front of us checked with the doorman, who'd apparently said it was about a 30 minute wait. We got indoors in 20 minutes, although it did seem longer since both of us had to use the bathroom. Note well if you're planning to go: this is just the queue for the privilege of buying a ticket. There's another line, albeit a shorter one, to actually get into the exhibit.

Chance thought the museum itself was pretty much a snoozer. I can't say that I blame him; it's really mostly PR. He did, however, quite enjoy the taste test rooms. We tried ginger beer, lemon, lime, passion fruit, bitter apertif, watermelon, cider, and sour apple (among others), and got a stomach ache for our pains. Here's Chance enjoying the cherry version of the pause that refreshes:

Like any good marketing tour, the only way out is through scads of Coke crap for sale. We did manage to squeak our way into the Picture Taking Opportunity™.

Coke bear, and a friend

Here's a nice picture I got walking back to the Five Points station, with a little bit of the skyline.
