I got 3 comment spams last night into the blog. All were from the same IP and e-mail, and all had the same broken english blurb and list of porn links. I knew that MovableType blogs have been hit pretty hard lately by the comment spammers, and figured I'm next on the list, so I downloaded and installed MT-Blacklist. Installation wasn't terribly bad, even though I had to do some extra work to figure out that I needed to install YAML.
If you run an MT blog, you need to install MT-Blacklist. Apparently, the reason why the spammers have started doing this is to give the linked sites more Google juice (since Google ranks based on backlinks).
I also looked at upgrading MT to 2.661 (it's added a feature where comments can't be added in bulk), but I need to make sure I know what templates and such need backing up. Maybe this weekend, but I kind of doubt it. Lots of other stuff on my plate, including posting more pictures.

I hate comment spammers!!! Gonna have to keep all this in mind if/when I switch from Typepad to MT.
Woot! I'm officially upgraded to 2.661 now. As a result, MT 3.0 should be out on oh, say, next Tuesday.
