Tim: Aly doesn't like it, because it's too wide.

John: The alternative is when it's too long. She's just got to figure out which one's easier for her to handle.

Tim: Maybe we'll be able to try out one of each.

So I talked to Ginger, and she said it's OK for him to have my long one, but he's on his own for the wide one.

What? Oh, you thought we were talking about... Ha! Double strollers, silly. Double strollers. And you thought...

In which Ginger and John enjoy some well-done highbrow culture amidst the cows of East Cherokee.

Last night Ginger and I went to "The Messiah" concert by the Cherokee Community Chorale. Our friend Ann Litrel sings with them, and usually gets us to go. The orchestra was just incredible. Most of the orchestra are with the Atlanta Symphony in some capacity, I think.

I do have a few thoughts to share on the performance:
- Handel (and his buddies, for that matter) had it out for wind instruments. Exhibit A: the trumpet line in the Alleluia Chorus.
- Handel picked the weirdest lines to noodle on.

In which the Coopers marvel the Fletcher's new home, the staggering distance to the nearest Mexifood, and the lack of golf cart DUIs.

A mere six or so months after the Fletchers moved back to "Atlanta" (I use the term loosely since they're further out on the south side than we are on the north), we spent the weekend at their new digs complete with golf carting.

How do I suffer house envy? Let me count the ways: three-sided brick, three-car garage (must have, when possession of a golf cart is practically written into the covenants), nearly half-again as much square footage, four full baths, and approximately half of Kansas for countertop space.

Knowing the Fletchers like we do, you would agree that it couldn't happen to nicer people. <grin>

Since this is the first time the Fletchers have been honored with the use of my blog to increase their Google hits, a little background and a few anecdotes may be in order. David and I are fraternity brothers. He's two pledge classes behind me (having pledged as a sophomore), and if UGA had managed a few more pledges as a colony, David would be my "centennial". Or maybe I'd be his. Anyway, Jen and Ginger are sorority sisters, albeit from different schools. David and I roomed together through grad school, and Jen and Ginger roomed together until Jen graduated. We've stayed close friends throughout, visiting them in Smyrna, Asheville, Hershey, and now Peachtree City; in turn, they've stayed with us in Huntsville and Woodstock (we begged them not to visit us in Guntersville, as we couldn't bear to inflict that house on them).

The favorite juxtaposition of this long-term friendship occured in 1997, when we all went to homecoming. Chance and Jack both got nursed in the TV room at the Beta house, while David and I sat on the front steps and drank beer (figure out which of these hadn't changed much since school).

All this to say that they're really hoopy froods and great friends, and we always have a wonderful time with them. This weekend was no exception.

As proof of our sojourn to the wilds of Peachtree City, I present photographic evidence of four boys, all under the age of seven, going all Lord of the Flies on David.

I think Paxton's pretty close to airborn here.

Kind of like the cave troll with Merry and Pippin on the back, don't you think?

Left to right: Jack, David, Paxton, Micheal, and Chance
